Ahhh fall…my favorite time of the year! This is especially true now that we live in the north again. I actually see leaves changing color already and it’s marvelous! Although it is still quite hot during the day, I feel the nip in the air at night. Since fall is my favorite time of year, I want to share our top 10 family fall activities!
10. Family Photos
My family is starting this tradition this year. For a long time, I’ve wanted to get beautiful family photos with bright orange, yellow, and red foliage in the background. I can’t wait!!
9. Apple picking
Apple pie, apple cider, caramel-covered apples…I love it all!
8. Pumpkin carving
I always forget what a complete mess this makes! LOL But, with a little preparation and helicopter-parent carving, it doesn’t have to be a disaster! Carve one large family jack-o-lantern instead of individual ones to cut down on the mess.
7. Halloween Party
I love hosting a Halloween party for kids, taking them trick-or-treating, and then having a more adult Halloween party late into the night. It’s the best of both worlds!
Candy and costumes! Need I say more?!
5. Jumping in leaf piles
Don’t tell me you don’t want to do this even as an adult!
4. Fall Festivals
I love everything about fall festivals. The food is delicious, the weather is usually cool enough to enjoy being outside, and fall decorations are everywhere!
3. Visit the Halloween Store
My kids love going to the Halloween store! It’s fun to see all the costumes and decorations. They even like the little scares they get out of the more realistic decor items. LOL
2. Fall Decorating
In September, I pull out the fall-colored decor items. In October, I add Halloween to the mix. Then, in November, of course, I replace Halloween with Thanksgiving items!
1. Thankful Tree
I absolutely love this idea that I got years ago from Dora the Explorer! LOL Cut out a big tree trunk from construction paper. Also cut several leaf shapes in various fall colors. Every day of November, everyone in your family writes down something they are thankful for on a leaf and adds the leaf to the tree. At the end of the month, you will have a huge, beautiful tree full of all your family’s blessings!
